I found Calahan while reading a post from Len on the petbouv mailing list. I visited the rescue web page where he was listed, saw the photos and knew that i had to do something. I contacted the ABRL (American Bouvier Rescue League), and was referred to several different people, with no result. I contacted the shelter where he was staying and they really did not take me too seriously, since i would be coming from Michigan for this boy. Next step, Bouvier Befrienders right here in Michigan, where the ball started to roll! They told me that they would help, and contacted a lady from ABRL - Tammy Upton. Tammy got the shelter to release Calahan to a friend of a member of Bouvier Befrienders in Minneapolis. From Minneapolis Calahan went with a policeman friend who took him to Manistique, Michigan. That is where we picked him up. Calahan was to go to Befrienders to be placed, but after 5 minutes I realized that he needed to stay with us, the Michigan bouv gang. He was so gentle and sweet despite his size, and very smart. He had been through so much, between the shelter and all of the travel, that I didn't want to confuse him more. so he is becoming accustomed to life here in Michigan. He has become very attached to me, and goes with me everywhere. The vet said that he is in excellent shape - a very large boy at 30 inches and 114 pounds. He is a blessing, worth all of the effort of the people that helped this boy along the way. with out their help, who knows what would have happened to Calahan. A Huge heartfelt thank you to all of you. Tess and the Michigan bouv gang.
