Longview Animal Control
was contacted on 8/30/06 regarding a strange looking animal, possibly a dog,
wandering a neighborhood. When ACO Kemper arrived on the scene, the animal
waddled into the backyard of a house and was found on the porch lying next to an
unconscious elderly man. Paramedics were called to transport the man to a local
hospital while Kemper transported the man's distraught and neglected pet to the
Humane Society of Northeast Texas.
The attached photos show the
condition of the dog upon arrival: matted hair so thick and heavy the poor dog's
skin was stretched away from his eyes; a 'shark fin' of matted hair covered his
back; his feet were impossible to find. After two hours of clipping away over 4
pounds of hair, Operations Manager Klancey Wright discovered the cuddly cutie,
reduced to a third of the size, within.
